April to September 2022
Commercial refrigeration. Interpreter and translator for senior executives. Translated emails and business documents on subjects such as sales, business results and forecasts, finance, LTIP, ERP, approvals, new business, and award ceremonies. Provided interpreting support for group and one-on-one meetings for monthly and quarterly meetings, finance, human resources, and new business proposals.

A Japanese engineer was requested to supervise and instruct the replacement of bearings for a 3600 kW gearbox shaft. I provided interpreting support for the safety induction, supervision and instruction, and meetings throughout this project.

Construction innovation conference. I accompanied delegates from a major Japanese construction company and provided all interpreting support, including simultaneous interpreting for the conference and consecutive interpreting for various meetings.

An Australian hardware company was seeking markets in Japan for products they had invented, designed and manufactured. I supported their activities by translating documents on product technology and history, as well as their catalogue.

Site visits by a delegation of waste water organisations from Tokyo. I provided interpreting support for speeches, presentations, meetings with related organisations, and site visits as they travelled around Sydney.

Disassemble and service a gearbox unit—about the size of a small house. I provided interpreting support for the initial safety induction, disassembly, service, and related meetings.

Senior executives of a large Japanese hardware and home improvement chain sought to conduct market research activities in Australia. I arranged meetings and site visits with various stores and suppliers, as well as transport for the visitors, and provided all interpreting and translation services to fulfil their objectives. All completed within budget and a fixed schedule.

September to October 2013
Sales manual for off-the-road tyres. A Japanese tyre manufacturer specialising in off-the-road tyres such as those for construction vehicles needed a sales manual for their Australian sales staff. I translated their manual with a good deal of industry terminology on mining and tyres into English.

Commissioning of medical equipment at a university hearing-related facility. Provided interpreting services to facilitate communication between the Japanese engineers and Australian trainers and supervisors from the initial paperwork to induction training and commissioning.

Site visits and meetings for a delegation from a Japanese multinational conglomerate on agile software development. I provided consecutive and whispered interpreting support while the delegation visited and met with companies implementing agile development.

Crash test, ANCAP and VSS discussions between a Japanese delegation from a car manufacturer and Australian government authorities in Canberra. I provided interpreting support for all discussions.

HVAC training sessions for service engineers regarding a new VRF product. An Australian HVAC manufacturer and distributor requested a Japanese service engineer to provide technical training to over a dozen service engineers from Australia and New Zealand. I provided interpreting services throughout the four day session.

Modification of X-ray inspection machine for a major food and beverage manufacturer. I provided consecutive and whispered interpreting in Queensland for 18 days for a group of Japanese engineers, from safety inductions to commissioning and completion, in addition to offering suggestions to brush up the English on their products brochure and driving them from the airport to the site.

July to August 2010
Installation and commissioning of a gas insulated transformer for a power company. I provided interpreting and sight translation support for four sessions of safety inductions to provide confidence that the Japanese technical specialist will adhere to Australian safety standards, in addition to all interpreting (face-to-face and via telephone) and translation support during the installation and commissioning.

2005 to 2007
This was five years before going solo as Clarus Translation, when I was interpreting and translating in a variety of industries as a full-time employee of an interpreting / translation company.

Two car manufacturers were collaborating to design and engineer their respective new vehicles. I worked on my own at first, then as part of a team to provide consecutive and whispered interpreting and translation support for design, engineering, finance and managerial conferences, as well as HR meetings, both face-to-face and via teleconferencing.

This was five years before going solo as Clarus Translation, when I was interpreting and translating in a variety of industries as a full-time employee of an interpreting / translation company.

I worked as part of a team to provide interpreting and translation support to engineers, technicians and tradespeople at multiple car manufacturers during OH&S inductions, installation, commissioning, production, inspection and training of equipment.

This was seven years before going solo as Clarus Translation, while I was a freelance interpreter and translator in Japan.

I translated a brochure for power semiconductors and peripherals manufacturer into English.
